Lysts!

The electing of Barack Obama as PRESIDENT has definitely made his supporters want to make changes in their life. It's as if it's New Years and everyone is choosing their resolutions. I've learned that if you want ANYTHING you have to go out and get it, NOTHING will be given to you, no matter how fortunate you are, or are not. You do nothing, you get nothing. hmm.

I'm starting what I call "Lysts" because I always notice interesting things during the day, and i think it'll be kinda cool to share!. It's going to be lists of hot new things, clothes, technology, anything! I'll probably do like one a month or so...but here's the first!

Lyst #1:
1. Fiat 500 (These have been out in Europe since I lived there which was a while ago but i think they're adorable!)

2. Juno's Hamburger Phone! (You cant NOT love this..I know the double negative is killing me too but hey :])

3. Japanese Talking Watches! (These are hysterical, I wish they came in French, but if you feel like attempting to learn Japanese go for it!)

1,500 plus CPDRC inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines at practice!

Something for ME! or Us...you get it.

If you have eyes you can tell...I'm mixed. With English, Indian, and Irish to be exact but like most mixed girls, the biggest issue is our HAIR! Everything about it is in between and for me the easiest thing to do has been to keep it straight because honestly, NO hair product company makes products for us, because the market isn't wide enough....but all that is about to change.
And this is Miss Jessie.

Titi and Miko Branch are carrying on the legacy of their legendary grandmother affectionately known as Miss Jessie. As a product of African American and Japanese ancestry, both the sisters faced a myriad of challenges in uncovering proper hair care techniques while growing up. Their grandma Jessie used her authentic yet practical sensibilities to personally develop products for their unique hair type. Today Titi and Miko have harnessed the very same love, care and innovation into a highly successful salon chain and super cult brand.

I've recently found a new love for boots..who knew!

So yea Christian Louboutin in my opinion makes some of the greatest shoes ever, but umm GIRLS just because Jay-Z mentions the name in a song doesn't mean the other shoe designers don't need love too!

Alexander McQueen
That bow says Special K all over it..

Giuseppe Zanotti
Those heels = CAKE
So simple but yet so amazing at the same time.
Am I describing myself or the shoes?...hmm

Will YOU Return the Favor?

Keri is amazing, and most people haven't really known of her for as long as she's been in the game...but anyway here's 'Return the Favor,' her newest single off of her debut album 'In A Perfect World," and a little bit of her interview with Clutch.

Look closely and think hard. You may recognize Keri Hilson from her guest spot on Xzibit's 2004 hit Mean Muggin (Hey Now) and, more recently, on Timbaland's worldwide smash The Way I Are. But don't be fooled by her stunning good looks and pop chick persona because this sister is so much more than just a pretty face. With an unrelenting work ethic that's made her one of the most sought-after songwriters in the business, Hilson's credits read like a who's who of contemporary R&B. Think Usher, Ciara, Chris Brown and Toni Braxton, to name a few. At 25, Hilson's an industry vet who's making the transition from behind the production console into the limelight. And she proves there's no such thing as an overnight success. Having been in singing groups since the age of 14, Hilson worked her way up the ladder, honing her craft as a writer while perfecting her vocal skills. With hard work, perseverance and no shortage of talent it wasn't long before she came to the attention of Uber-producer Timbaland, who signed Hilson to his label on the strength of a phone call. Her debut album In A Perfect World... is due out later this year.

Q: What can we expect from your album?
Well, it's a good mix of everything. It's what you know from me as a songwriter and also as an artist. Of course, the Timbaland influence is there. Timbaland and his protege Danja and Polow produced the whole album. It's one congruent sound. It's like a movement. Definitely like nothing you've heard. It's hard for me to describe my songs just because I'm close to the music. I do know that, from a songwriter's perspective, it has the components to be a great album and do very well.

Q: What kind of music will it be?
In the same way that you can't really pigeonhole anything Timbaland works on like Justin (Timberlake), those are R&B songs but he's a pop artist, they have pop appeal. I'd say it's kind of like a girl Justin Timberlake with a little more soul and R&B.

Q: Will it be a concept album? What will the songs be about?
The album is called In A Perfect World . . . and by that I mean no ones world is perfect and mine is no different. I look like I have it all together but at the end of the day I'm a female, I'm emotional. I go through the same things that everyone else goes through and I just wanted my album to depict that reality because everyone has something about their world that they would change. So it's based upon that idea and I didn't wanna do an album that painted myself perfect. I'm far from it.

MIA a Fashion Designer? Go HER!!!

We ALL know that MIA has a style thats out of this world....literally. But now she's teaming up with St.Vincent Native Okley with designs that are inspired by MIA's albums and other ish. Check it ouuuuut. =]
OKLEY's VIDEO
MIA's Interview w/ FADER mag:
What made you decide to start your own line?
I wanted to tie all my work together. When I make an album, I make a number of artworks that go with it, and now I make some clothes that go with it too. So this Okley run was an extension of my Kala album and artwork. The line exists to get the message across—whatever the aesthetic is that I’m trying to communicate. The Kala artwork and sound and clothes are all about being worldly, and representing the idea of the whole world being mashed up into one.

^^Thats Okley!!
You've always had a great sense of personal style—what was it like translating that into the line?
A lot of these ideas came from doing videos like “Boyz” and “Birdflu,” while I was traveling and I tried making clothes when I was out there on the shoot, like the day before. It’s always been one of those things—I wished I had a bunch of clothes ready-made that expressed my ideas. When you’re ahead of things no one knows what you’re talking about at the time so it’s hard to get it made. Then a year later it’s everywhere. It’s like that on tour too—you run out of clothes and it’s better if you have your own.

What pieces did you have in mind as staples for the line before you started designing?
I haven't gotten to a point where I can call it a line yet, but I'm still figuring out what this is. It is directly tied in to the cycles of my albums. I was wearing a lot of my throwback '90s bomber jackets, leggings, bodies [leotards] and hoodies on tour, which is what I ended up making.

How has the fashion creative process been different from making music?
It is different, but it can be even more different! I don’t want to start a line and do what the fashion industry does, like everyone gets stressed up around February and September, then dressed up in March and October and then pressed up to do the next cycle again. I would like to link my collections to something else other than seasons.

Obama!

Theres so much i love about this!!. =]
Barack Obama greeting a young supporter in Chantilly, Virgina on Wednesday afternoon.

Kid Sister!!

How can you NOT love this chick?

Kid Sister (Born Melisa Young, in Markham, Illinois) has only been in the music game for about three years, but has already made quite a splash in the scene. While she’s worked with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, been featured in countless publications and appeared in a Converse ad, she still seems to maintain the silliness, charm and candidness that will no doubt aid her as she continues her rise to the top. Drawing from Hip Hop and House music, her debut album, Dream Date(Downtown Records) is slated for a November 4, 2008 release and features production from Spank Rock’s XXXChange, Trackademicks & Gant Man. The self proclaimed tomboy has (along with her brother’s DJ duo Flosstradamus) helped build upon the Chicago scene that artists like Common, Twista, Crucial Conflict and the aforementioned Kanye West have laid the foundation for.

A little of her Clutch interview:

Clutch: How long have you been emceeing?
Kid Sister: My first show was October 31—Halloween, 2005. I’d been writing a couple of songs and I was really, well you know! You’ve known me since I was poor! And before you knew me I was even poorer, if you can image that. So basically I was living in this one bedroom apartment, which was basically a glorified studio. Really overpriced and I thought the neighborhood was whatever.

So, I was in my one bedroom crappy apartment. I remember one time my dog boo boo’d all over the couch and I had to throw it away. All I had were these little foam cylinders to sit on. They were like $20 each and those are what I wrote some of my first songs on, these little cylinders. I had little time to myself cause I worked a lot. But the little time I had to myself, I would write these songs.

Clutch: It’s been a pretty quick rise.
Kid Sister:No kidding! It’s been really awesome!

Clutch: And since then you’ve worked with Kanye, you’ve toured the world, and had the video on MTV. You’ve been featured in a Converse ad and been nominated for a BET award.
Kid Sister: Yep! Worked with Kanye, worked with Pharrell, I’ve worked with David Banner, worked with Estelle. All these crazy big names, who would have thought, you know. It doesn’t even seem real to me, it’s crazy. I’m so flattered and so excited, it’s like I wake up every morning wanting to grab my pompoms, do a cartwheel you know what I mean? I’m just like, “Oh my god!” Sometimes it isn’t the ideal lifestyle, but most of the time I just have to have a really positive attitude because everything is so much better than before.

PRO NAILS:

I'm Confused.

So there was an accident outside my window this morning and I'm really confused about what the HELL happened. =/ But anyway before they pulled the red Honda off to the side and also before I thought of taking a picture with my phone, it was behind the white car where the gas is. But the FRONT of both cars are damaged and they were on the same side of the road. OK....

We on that NEW s%@&. [LaQueue]

LaQueue
It takes a sharp-eyed designer to tap into the countless personas of fashionable women from all walks of life. In order to execute that technique a great designer studies their finesse, strut and the eventful lifestyles women lead. Twenty-year old designer Laquan Smith masters that and makes it look effortless.

Clutch: What can we expect from you in the near future?
LaQueue: Well, you can definitely expect more celebs/ fashion socialites spotted in my pieces. Expect to see me during N.Y fashion week someday. Over all, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. I really don't know what God has in store, but in due time.
check out clutch to see the whole interview..
